Chief Deputy Clerk of the Court of Appeals Elected to NCACC Executive Committee
Megan K. Scanlon, chief deputy clerk at the Court of Appeals of Virginia, was nominated and elected by her peers to serve a two-year term on the executive committee for the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks (NCACC) during the organization’s recent annual meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Founded in 1973, the NCACC is dedicated to enhancing the skills and knowledge of its members, promoting effective court administration, facilitating the exchange of ideas, and providing resources for the dissemination of information on appellate court operations. The organization’s membership includes state, federal, military, and tribal appellate and supreme court clerks from across the United States, the District of Columbia, and United States territories. Scanlon has been a member of the NCACC since 2022 and has served on several committees within the organization.
Scanlon has held licenses to practice law in Arizona, Alabama, and Virginia. In the private sector, she worked at international law firms and represented Fortune 100 clients. She has served in the public sector as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia. Within the judicial branch, Scanlon has served in law clerk and staff attorney roles at the Arizona Supreme Court, the Southern District of Alabama, the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Scanlon is a graduate of the College of William and Mary (B.A.), Bowling Green State University (M.A.), and the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law (J.D.). While in law school, she served as the editor-in-chief of the Arizona State Law Journal. She has also authored several articles that courts around the country have cited in published decisions.
