Virginia Law Foundation Awards $716,500 in 2025 Grants to Law-Related Projects

Virginia Law Foundation logoPowered by the generosity of Virginia's lawyers and legal community, the Virginia Law Foundation (VLF) awarded $716,500 to 33 organizations across the Commonwealth. Reviewed and selected by the VLF’s Grants Committee, these annual grants support a variety of law-related projects that will benefit thousands of Virginians. The VSB Diversity Section received a $15,000 grant for the Oliver Hill/Samuel Tucker Pre-Law Institute, the VSB Family Law Section secured a $10,000 grant to update the educational video Spare the Child, and the Virginia Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (VJLAP) obtained a $10,000 grant for the creation of an outreach and education analysis heat map.

“Thousands of Virginians’ lives are positively impacted each year by the Virginia Law Foundation,” said VLF CEO Brigadier General (Ret.) Alison Martin. “Underwriting meaningful projects such as pro bono services, legal aid, and transformational civics education is the pinnacle of the Virginia Law Foundation’s philanthropy, and we are thrilled to announce our exceptional 2025 recipients and support their work.”

Since the establishment of its grants program in 1984, the VLF has awarded more than $30 million to initiatives and nonprofits across Virginia. This year’s recipients include a wide scope of projects that will strengthen citizen knowledge in civics, empower current and future generations of citizen lawyers, and help bridge the justice gap by addressing the legal needs of low-income Virginians.

The VLF will host its Grants Luncheon to celebrate this year's grants on August 21 at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture in Richmond.
