Sarah Louppe Petcher Receives 2025 Traver Scholar Award
The Virginia State Bar Real Property Section and Virginia CLE® have named Sarah Louppe Petcher as the 2025 recipient of the Traver Scholar Award, which is awarded to attorneys who embody the highest ideals and expertise in the practice of real estate law.
Traver Award recipients are Real Property Section members who have made significant contributions to the practice of real property law generally and the section specifically and have generously shared their knowledge with others.
Petcher is currently a partner at S&T Law Group, PLLC, in Falls Church. The firm deals with contracts, HOA issues, representing buyers and sellers, working with real estate brokerage issues, providing legal services for title and settlement companies, assisting non-profits and trade associations, small business planning, and estate planning.
Petcher first fell in love with real estate as the general counsel of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR). During her tenure at NVAR, she learned not only about running a real estate association but came to understand the full picture of the real estate industry in the U.S.
Petcher is a past chair of the VSB Real Property Section (2023–24) and is currently an area representative and a co-chair of the section’s Education Committee. She is a speaker for Virginia CLE® on real estate brokerage issues as well as other matters. Previously, she was active with the VSB Young Lawyers Conference (YLC), receiving the R. Edwin Burnette Jr. Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2007. Additionally, Petcher received a Significant Service Award from the YLC in 2006 for her work as a volunteer on the YLC’s Immigrant Outreach Committee.
Petcher received her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Northwestern University and her law degree from George Mason University School of Law. She lives in Falls Church with her husband and two daughters.
