The Virginia State Bar, the regulatory agency for the legal profession in Virginia, has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and experienced trial attorney within the Office of Bar Counsel. The Office regulates the legal profession through the review, investigation, and trial of disciplinary complaints. Responsibilities include reviewing complaints of misconduct; analyzing investigative reports and presenting recommendations; and trying misconduct cases before district committees, the Disciplinary Board, and circuit courts. This position may also develop and present continuing legal education programs for various groups and participate in special assignments. The Office offers attorneys a varied and challenging case load within a highly collaborative office environment and opportunities for work-life balance. This position is eligible to telework two days per week after six months.

The selected candidate will have a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar with no disciplinary sanctions. He/she will also have experience as a practicing attorney and a minimum of five years of trial experience. Experience in a broad range of practice areas, both civil and criminal, is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional litigation, writing, and legal research skills; an understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct; the ability to analyze complex issues and make sound recommendations; and the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
