The VSB Young Lawyers Section, with support from the Virginia Law Foundation, is partnering with Culpeper, Fauquier and Orange Counties to provide first responders and their spouses FREE basic estate planning documents. Virginia-licensed attorneys are encouraged to participate. Volunteers should sign up before August 12. After signing up, volunteers will be sent the link to the required CLE training, to be completed by August 14.

Earn MCLE Credit While Volunteering

Volunteer attorneys may earn MCLE credit for participating in Wills for Heroes:

  • 1 MCLE credit for completing the mandatory one-hour online training program.
  • 1 MCLE credit for each 4.5-hour volunteer shift worked during the event.
  • Attorneys who complete the training and volunteer for all four available shifts may earn up to 5 MCLE credit hours total.

No estate planning experience is necessary. The required training will prepare volunteers to assist first responders and their spouses with basic estate planning documents, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Medical Directives.

First responders eligible to participate must be a Virginia resident and sworn personnel of one of the hosting organizations and can register through their locality.
