VSB Seeks Comment on Providing Free Billing Software to Members

The Virginia State Bar (VSB) seeks public comment on proposed VSB provision of free legal billing software to members. This initiative aims to assist attorneys in fulfilling their ethical responsibilities relating to trust accounting, client billing, and invoicing. The proposal is designed to be revenue and cost neutral for the VSB.

Any such legal billing software may offer members the following features:

  • Management of IOLTA and business accounts.
  • Tracking of billable time on individual client matters.
  • Preparation of invoices in various billing formats (e.g., fix-fee, hourly, contingency).
  • Integration with existing accounting software.

Comment

Any individual, business, or other entity may submit written comments in support of or in opposition to the proposed action to Cameron M. Rountree, executive director of the Virginia State Bar, by close of business on September 30, 2024. Comments may be submitted via email to [email protected].
