Deadline extended for VSB members to volunteer to serve on select 2024-25 committees
Much of the work of the Virginia State Bar is done through its committees, and the Bar needs active and in-good-standing Virginia lawyers lawyers willing to serve. Appointments by VSB President-elect Michael York will generally be for a three-year term, running from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027, with the possibility of another three-year term to follow. The work of the committees can require substantial time to fulfill the requirements of the job.
The application process for volunteers for the VSB’s committees began January 5 and the deadline has been extended to March 8 for terms beginning July 1, 2024.
- Applicants must submit their resume along with VSB’s Committee Preference Form to [email protected] during the application period for consideration.
- The President-elect makes the selection of members to fill vacancies and all applicants will be notified of the decision by July 1, 2024.

- Committee on Lawyer Discipline (COLD)
- Lawyer Insurance
Lawyer vacancies on standing committees are limited due to requirements for a specific number of Executive Committee and VSB Council members to serve on each committee. To encourage participation—and recognizing the time commitment—lawyers are generally limited to serve on one committee. We attempt to to accommodate as many people who are interested as possible.
