Daniel L. Gray Receives Family Law Service Award

Daniel Gray portraitDaniel L. Gray, a partner in Cooper Ginsberg Gray PLLC in Fairfax, has been named the 2022 recipient of the Family Law Service Award presented by the Virginia State Bar’s Family Law Section.

The award recognizes people and organizations that have improved family, domestic relations, or juvenile law in the Commonwealth. It is to be presented April 12 at the section’s 38th Annual Advanced Family Law Seminar at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond.

Gray was nominated by Brian M. Hirsch, of Hirsch & Ehlenberger, P.C. in Reston, the 2020 recipient of the award. “Dan has served as Chair of the VSB Family Law Section, President of the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is currently Chair of the VBA Family Law Coalition. All of these roles take tremendous time, effort, and talent,” wrote Hirsch. “Dan has performed all of these roles in exemplary fashion.”

A lifelong Virginia resident, Gray clerked for a Fairfax County Circuit Court judge before beginning his 25-year career as a family lawyer. As Chair of the Virginia Bar Association’s Family Law Coalition, Gray works with other attorneys to propose, track, and advocate on family law bills pending in the General Assembly. Gray was appointed by Governor Ralph Northam to the Virginia Child Support Guidelines Review Panel in 2020.

A prolific lecturer and speaker, Gray has addressed other lawyers and taught CLEs on a wide array of family law topics across Virginia, as well as in Maryland and Washington D.C.

Gray is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received his law degree from the George Mason University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
