Pursuant to Pt. I, Article V, Sec. 3. of the Virginia State Bar Bylaws, president Chidi James established the VSB Entry, Growth, and Distribution of Virginia Attorneys Study Committee (EGAD VA) to examine the declining number of lawyers practicing in Virginia, particularly in certain geographic areas identified as “lagging circuits.” During its 15-month tenure, the Committee is charged with increasing the legal profession’s awareness of this issue and making specific recommendations to address the declining population and mitigate impacts of the same. This committee was previously known as the Lawyer Population Study Committee.
